Cellulose ether solubility

Cellulose ether solubility

Cellulose ether is a polyhydroxide polymer compound that is neither dissolved nor melted. Cellulose can be dissolved in water, dilute alkali solution and organic solvent and has thermoplastic properties.

The solubility of cellulose ether after Etherization has changed significantly, which can be dissolved in water, dilute acid, dilute alkali or organic solvent.

The Cellulose ether solubility mainly depends on three factors:

(1) the properties of the groups introduced in the Etherization process, the larger the introduced group, the lower the solubility, the stronger the polarity of the introduced group, and the easier the cellulose ether is soluble in water;

(2) the distribution of substitution degree and ether group in large molecules. Most cellulose ether can only dissolve in water under a certain degree of substitution, and the degree of substitution is 0 ~ Between 3;

(3) the degree of polymerization of cellulose ether, the higher the degree of polymerization, the more difficult to dissolve; the lower the degree of polymerization, the wider the range of substitution that can dissolve in water. Cellulose Ether is widely used in construction, cement, petroleum, food, textile, detergent, paint, medicine, paper and electronic components.
